EPA partners
The European Public Affairs programme is programme offered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of the Maastricht University. An important partner of the programme is the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA). EIPA is involved in two of the 6 modules of the EPA master.
Maastricht University (UM) has 10,000 students in seven Faculties. From its start, in 1976, it has been the ambition of the university to be an innovative centre for interdisciplinary research and teaching. All schools employ a problem-based learning approach. As a consequence of this innovative attitude the university ranks top in Dutch assessments of the quality of university education programmes.
The European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA), founded in 1981, is an organisation with a European vocation, playing a prominent role in providing information, training and research and consultancy within the field of European affairs. EIPA is primarily concerned with post-experience programmes aimed at improving the understanding of EU processes and policies, developing the capacities of the administrations of Member States to cope with European integration, and assisting in the development of co-operation between these administrations.
Every year EIPA runs approximately 300 seminars and welcomes some 6,000 participants from all European countries and beyond. In total more than 40 different countries participate in its training events. Its target group includes civil servants, judges and lawyers involved in the formulation and implementation of European policies at European, national or regional levels as well as European experts from employer, consumer and trade union organisations.
